Overview

The S8G02G2GFI/GFID is the full-gigabit flagship of the 8-port line: 8 Gigabit PoE ports paired with 2 Gigabit RJ45 uplinks and 2 Gigabit SFP slots, so a project with high-bitrate 4K cameras and a fiber backbone can use both at once. Run the RJ45 uplinks to a nearby switch and the SFP ports to two separate fiber runs for path redundancy, or split camera traffic across copper and fiber to keep any single link from getting overloaded. Every PoE port still delivers up to 30W under IEEE 802.3af/at, and the fanless metal case keeps it silent under load. Choose the 96W S8G02G2GFI for typical loads or the 120W S8G02G2GFI, which adds a watchdog auto-reset, for heavier PTZ/IR loads.

8-Port Gigabit PoE Switch FAQ — S8G02G2GFI

How many cameras can the S8G02G2GFI power, including 4K models?
All 8 gigabit PoE ports power devices simultaneously under IEEE 802.3af/at. The 120W version averages 15W per port; typical IP cameras draw 4–12W, so 8 cameras fit comfortably. Each camera also gets a full gigabit link, which suits high-bitrate 4K streams, and a single port can supply 30W.
Why does it have two SFP slots?
The 2×1000Base-X SFP slots allow dual fiber uplinks: run two separate fiber paths for redundancy, or split camera traffic between copper and fiber so no single link is overloaded. The 2 gigabit RJ45 uplinks stay available for a nearby switch or NVR at the same time.
How far can each camera cable run?
Each copper segment follows the IEEE 802.3 limit of 100m from switch port to camera. For links beyond that, or between buildings, use the 1000Base-X SFP slots with fiber modules on the uplink side instead of stretching copper past specification.
What is the difference between the 96W and 120W versions?
Both share the same layout: 8 gigabit PoE ports, 2 gigabit RJ45 uplinks, 2 SFP slots, 30W max per port. The 96W standard model has no watchdog; the 120W high-power (D) model raises the PoE budget and adds watchdog auto-reset to recover frozen cameras without a site visit.
What devices is it compatible with?
Any device that follows IEEE 802.3af/at: mainstream IP cameras, wireless APs and video intercoms. Detection is automatic — the switch verifies the powered-device signature before applying voltage, so non-PoE equipment on the same ports simply gets a data connection without risk.
How is it installed and powered?
The fanless metal housing measures 240×150×44mm, is IP30 rated and sits on a desktop or mounts to a wall. A built-in DC 52V 2.3A supply runs from AC 176–264V input, compatible with 100–240V adapters, over an operating range of -10°C to +70°C.
